The GOP's War on Women's Rights, Their Uterus and now the Girl Scouts - WOMEN RISE UP !

C'mon Ladies, does Susan B. Anthony need to be resurrected for you to use your voices? Do I have to go on a personal mission to find Helen Reddy?  Oh Gloria Steinem, why have they forsaken you?  Does Dr. Maya Angelou have to write a new poem to inspire you to stand up for yourselves?  Does the 2012 picture of Rosie the Riveter have her with a baby in one arm and a frying pan in the other?

Last week the Republicans held a conference about contraception without inviting one woman to participate.  Not one man there could ever carry or deliver a baby.

Now in Virginia, the republicans are trying to circumvent Roe Vs. Wade by instituting a mandated Transvaginal probe for anyone who is considering a termination of pregnancy.  An unnecessary procedure that insurance companies would not pay for.  They don't care about your privacy or the doctor-patient privilege.  What is this, the American version of the Taliban?

Today, the Republicans go after the Girls Scouts of America.  What in the ....?  Look, I'm a man and if you go after my Thin Mint cookies, there is going to be hell to pay.  Where are the voices of the American Women in protest to this all out war against your rights?  Last year Beyonce had you all singing a song "Girls Run the World"  Do you believe it or did it just have a good beat you could dance to?

EMILY's List ad hits GOP for all-male birth control panel

Silent Protest Outside, Virginia House Puts Off Ultrasound Vote

I am hoping that this will drive women to the polls in record numbers this election cycle.

This Bull pucky legislation on our vaginas has to go/and this will definitely be bringing me out to vote this year. Along with all the other civil liberties/bill of rights/and Constitutional law breaking the last two Admins: have taken away from us ALL!

While I commend those who participated in the Silent protest in Virginia, I feel that the probability of the passing of that disgusting piece of legislation will open up the flood gates for other states to enact similar or even more invasive procedures against women. This is all just a way for the Republicans to circumvent Roe v. Wade. If they can't change the law of a Woman's right to choose, they can punish those who support the law. This is an attack on Women's Rights, plain and simple. A silent protest seems to be exactly what they expect from Women. Silence!

B.L. Frazer, I have every confidence that women will make their displeasure known at the polls. Republicans are going to be sorry they decided to go after women's rights.

Thanks for writing this.

I think some of you forget....around half of the republicans you love to bring down is made up of women who believe what the GOP stands for. So...I wouldnt get so high and mighty about being right all the time people.

This is what is the most disturbing. Republican women will defend this legislative posturing against their own personal rights for the purpose of supporting the party. It is true insanity!

Possibly...but there is another reason....perhaps they do agree with it. Just a thought. Thanks for the comment.

That is my point exactly, they may actually agree with this legislation, against their own personal rights. That is true insanity.

I'm not a republican, but as I no longer have any confidence in Obama... will vote republican this year! I'm hoping it will be Newt, but am also ok with Santorum or Romney.

My mistake in 2008 was believing Obama's promises. And the criticism the media has put on the Republicans regarding Religion and Women's rights is more liberal propaganda than fact. Shame on the left!

I am not part of the media & am damn well criticizing these candidates for their stance on women's rights to privacy & health care & birth control. You might like the tight control, but I sure as hell don't - guess the mantra from 2010 Republican campaigns has become outdated - it is no longer smaller government - it has now become all up in women's business.

more liberal propaganda than fact.

Robin, you might want to rethink this. Fact is, all kinds of legislation is appearing all over the country and it is all designed to overturn Roe v. Wade, and even take back the Griswold decision. Since the Tea Party/Republicans have gained power in both states and the U.S. House, nothing but measures designed to restrict women's rights have been the norm. This is fact, not propaganda.

That plus the fact that the R's are allowing this to go as far as it has tells me they have nothing short of Ryan's budget to run on. And that was clearly and quickly voted down by the general public. More of the same that got us in to the ditch to begin with....and then some!

Robin hot in NM,

Is this the first time in your voting history that you have considered pulling the lever for a republican candidate over your own party? If so, why is that? I'm sure other democratic politicians have disappointed you at one time or another. But Obama has so made you consider changing to another party affiliation altogether. hmmmmm? Interesting.

Yeah...Newt is such a viable candidate..preferable to President Obama! That really makes me think you voted McCainiac last time around and the president never had your vote...if you are a women are you for state mandated rape? Are you for religious tests for public office? You answered that in your comment...Republican overeach trancends ordinary politics my conservative female friends are aghast.
